Most of the time a person will travel anywhere. It was in February 13, 1877 when one businessman and brainstormer came up with an idea to organize the first Antarctic charter flight in the world after considering this thought. He looked at a map and then this energetic electronic executive who was 33 years old though about what possible hurdle prevents normal aircrafts from traveling to the Antarctic and then returns to all in one day.
Realizing that was one of the few developed countries capable of such a flight, he telephoned's premier flag carrier to charter a 707 in November of 1976. He said at first they thought I was putting them on. This kind of travel plan has never been offered to the carrier and they did not consider it to be financially sound as well. Due to his persistence and also his seriousness with the matter the charter manager changed his mind.
When it came to offering tickets to passengers much difficulty was experienced at first. For the charter there were only six passengers who confirmed their participation. Aside from a paper publishing a story there was also word traveling on the streets. A while after the story was released by the paper, the reservations for the flight began to pile up. In a spam of four hours they already had enough passengers for a 707. About three 707s could be filled up with the number of passengers they got within the day.
What he did after the surprising turnout was call the airline for an extra two 747s. What he said was that the situation was hardly believable. But they were provided with another plane, a jumbo.
Summers in the Southern Hemisphere last from November through February and this is when the weather is relatively clear making it the best time to view Antarctica, says the airline spokesman. By risk basis is how visibility here applies and there are no guarantees given when it comes to the viewing conditions. For him there is no need for any other safety precautions. It was according to the superintendent of's major airline that the flight will run an ordinary pattern.
He is a 22 year veteran who flew the first flight of his country's flag carrier to South America but never a flight like this one in particular. For him, anything could happen and could be seen over there. Plain and simple, all of it was pure and clean enormity. Other than the shades of blue running from pale to indigo, the white was the whitest of whites.
There was nothing as bewildering. Other than not missing anything he was also met with a feeling of elation.
Seating arrangements were swapped every now and then especially for those with window seats. A computer system has been employed to designate the viewing interval. From both sides of the plane was a maximum view of things all thanks to the flying pattern they created. Taking into consideration how adverse the Antarctic weather can get, they managed to devise a plan that allowed for the complete penetrations of all of the kinds of scenery in the continent including the glaciers and ice plateaus to the coastline and the mountains.
Normally it would take as much as 12 1/2 hours to fly over the location. When they are not flying over Antarctica, what they do to entertain the guests is to provide games, movies, and lectures. With this airline, you get full course meals and customary cabin service as well.
